After slapping us in the face and taking all our lunch money with their Black Panda single and then proceeding to steal the show at the annual BIG Sound music conference last year, Perth's Koi Child have demanded our attention from the get go and they bloody well have it.
Now the Perth crew are back with brand new single 1-5-9 which after opening with 10 seconds of franticness drops into a chilled out affair that is guaranteed to have you nodding your head with unexpected pleasure. We're talking peak Kevin Parker on this one, amazing drum fills are immaculately produced drum sounds melding with a bassline that'll probably leave you in a blissed out coma. It's not often something feels as smooth as this while also being so high intensity. Half the heat is obviously generated through the immaculate flow of Cruz Patterson whose vocal rhythm is a perfect counterpoint to that Parker production. Not to take anything away from the other 36 members of this outfit however, who all inject their own flavour across the jam.
This album is going to lay us out like a dud batch of Flunitrazepam when it drops on March 18, we can't even deal right now. Get your preorder on here.
