The 10 Biggest Lies In Music Of 2016

    POSTED

We're at the end of the year now so we can basically call out anyone who promised things and didn't deliver this year. This is a list of our favourite and biggest sweet little lies...

Kanye West Is Releasing Three Albums This Year

2016 isn't over but it's very unlikely that Kanye West is going to match Gucci Mane's feat by releasing three albums this year. Back in May, after the release of The Life Of Pablo he said that he was going to release three albums per year from now on but he's yet to even release two. Turbo Grafx 16 is said to be the title of the next album while we're also waiting on that G.O.O.D. Music record Cruel Winter.

Kanye West Is Calling His Album Swish

Before it was called The Life Of Pablo, it was called Waves and then before that it was called Swish. We're still hung up on the Swish thing because it's clear that that was the name that album was meant to be called. Pablo is better than Waves, to be fair, but Swish trumps them all. Father John Misty summed up everyone's disappointment best. He tweeted, "NO SWISH WHY GOD NO," following it up with, "SWISH is the name of this album, dude, im telling you." We will forever agree.

Kanye West Is Bringing Back G.O.O.D. Music Fridays

After he dropped The Life Of Pablo, Kanye released another new track 30 Hours and said he was bringing back G.O.O.D. Fridays, the series where he dropped a new track every Friday. As you'll be aware, we never got another new track on a Friday, which does mean that it never went ahead.

Taylor Swift Says She Had No Idea About Famous

2016 was very bad for a lot of people but it was particularly bad to everyone's ex-favourite pop sweatheart Taylor Swift. Swift had a pretty squeeky clean image before the whole Famous debacle happened. Basically Kanye kinda dissed/complimented Swift in Famous and then she threw subtle shots at him during her Grammy speech for Album Of The Year. She then denied that she ever approved the song and then Kimmy K leaked a phone call between her and Kanye where she does clearly approve the song. It was a big debacle that was sometimes exhausting to follow but if nothing else the snake emoji finally got its time to shine.

Drake Says He's Releasing More Life This Year

Hey, remember that project Drake was gonna drop early December Mor Life? Yep, well it didn't happen. He set a release date of 3rd December for it but 3rd December came and went and we were less life. It's said to be dropping early 2017 but once a liar, always a liar so we'll see about that.

Kylie Jenner Revealed As The Singer Of Terror Jr.

Earlier this year Kylie Jenner launched her lip kits with a strange video clip that was accompanied by the music of Terror Jr. Terror Jr. have never revealed the identity of their lead-singer and people started to speculate that Jenner actually sung in the group. Rumours were fuelled even more when someone thought they'd uncovered the credits for their album Bop City, listing Jenner as a vocalist. She then accused the band of, "trying to get attention," and denied the rumours

Frank Ocean's Album Is Being Released In July 2015

Everyone has forgiven Frank now because he made a bloody great record, finally, but remember early August this year when everybody was in a real tiz about the whole situation. Ocean was meant to drop the album back in July 2015 but that date came and went and there was no album nor any response from Frank. Then 2016 looked like it was going to go by without any word from Ocean either until he dropped a pesky library card that suggested it could drop in July 2016. It didn't and we were left to wait some more until he appeared on a live stream on his website chopping wood which was both infuriating and weirdly satisfying. FINALLY, not one, but two albums came and now we all love him again. What a ride.

Cee-Lo Green Nearly Died After A Samsung Blew Up In His Hand

People really enjoy connecting dots with very little proof. Last week strange rumours circulated that Cee-Lo Green was injured or even dead after footage emerged of a phone blowing up in his hand. The internet immediately thought it was a Samsung Note 7, because let's be honest they haven't had the best track record this year, and Cee-Lo kept pretty silent worrying fans even more. Then he was forced to come out and tell everyone that he's alive and also confirm that the video was a fake. It was actually something he's filming for a new project.

Jay Z And Beyoncé Are Going To Release A Collaborative Album In The Aftermath Of Lemonade

After Beyoncé dropped Lemonade which basically outed Jay Z as a cheat, a rumour arose on the internet that the pair would come together for a collaborative album. Given the potency of Lemonade it was a strange concept to begin with but what was even stranger was that the rumours really had no validity whatsoever. Of course, the news was shared by a close source but the album never eventuated. The BeyHive did tweet though that the record would be about, “Marriage Counseling. Tennis Courts. Mansion. Therapy. Battle. Screaming. Accusations. Regret. Trust Issues. Celebrity. Visual Album. Film.” We're very intrigued to hear an album that ties marriage counselling to tennis courts.

Hudson Mohawke Worked With James Blake

This was one of the strangest beefs of the year because of how offended James Blake got by it. Basically HudMo claimed that he'd worked with Blake on a couple of demoes and Blake hit out saying it never did. HudMo then leaked an email that proved the pair had worked on something at some point and Blake hit back again with a very icy message:
