It's hard to even characterise the sound of 100 gecs. They're chaotic, experimental and punk AF, so it's no surprise that their new remix album 1000 gecs & The Tree Of Clues includes features from the whole gamut of internet artists, along with a handful of new tracks.
We're not kidding - there's A.G. Cook, which makes sense when you consider the PC Music influences on 100 gecs, as well as Rico Nasty, Charli XCX, Dorian Electra, umru, Danny L Harle and... Fall Out Boy.
INTERVIEW: 100 Gecs Were Trying To Do Things By The Book & Ended Up Re-Writing It
If you're a pop punk fan and have been waiting patiently for a follow-up album to 2018's MANIA, who would've thought that 100 gecs would be the ones to lure Patrick Stump's perfect croon back into our lives with this remix of hand crushed by a mallet.
The song also features emo/post-hardcore scene favourite Craig Owens, former frontman of Chiodos/Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows. Though he's recently been making more electronic/emo rap-influenced stuff under the pseudonym badxchannels, 100 gecs have also managed to convince Craig to release music under his solo name, something he's mostly stayed away from recently.
Finally the remix's holy trifecta features Canadian sadcore voice Nicole Dollanganger, who hasn't been super active since 2018 either. Huge kudos to 100 gecs - they seem to have the magic touch in convincing dormant artists to release music.
Now do Rihanna next.
