Akon has done really well for himself, both in music and beyond (he's currently building his own city in Senegal), but he does have one major regret.
Speaking to VladTV, Akon revealed that he didn't want to sign Drake to his record label, Konvict Muzik, because he sounded too much like Eminem. Honestly, we don't hear it.
Akon says, "At the time, believe it or not, Drake sounded more like Eminem. That's every artists' development. You can see the difference between that demo and Best I Ever Had."
He first heard Drake's music when Toronto rapper Kardinal Offishall brought it to Akon. However, by the time Drake started to develop his style, and ended up writing Best I Ever Had and So Far Gone, the price of signing him was over a million.
Akon's worked with the likes of T-Pain and Lady Gaga, but he says that working with Drake would have been huge. "Out of all the artists today, to me, [Drake] is worth every single fucking penny. Every single penny. That motherfucker's a genius, bro. It's revolutionary what he's done."
