Alt-J have announced a new project, seemingly breaking a 4-year hiatus.

The British band took to Instagram to announce that U&ME would be arriving on 22nd September without letting us know what U&ME actually is.

If you head to their website there is a pre-save link which suggests that it is almost certainly a new single - their first since 2017's record RELAXER.

Their third album, at 8 songs long, was their most experimental to date but single In Cold Blood still managed to land a place in the triple j Hottest 100.

In fact, the trio have had at least one song from every one of their records find favour in the countdown. Breezeblocks from their debut record An Awesome Wave was even named by triple j listeners as the 12th best song of the 2010s.

Since RELAXER the band have been extremely quiet but it seems we're about to start hearing what they've been up to from next week.
