    It seems alt-R&B is having a moment with the likes of Solange, SZA, Jorja Smith and Pink Sweat$ copping a lot of critical acclaim and attention for their modern yet traditionally soulful approach to R&B. 

    Another artist in this camp that you should get to know is LA-based artist AUGUST 08, who's just dropped the music video for his latest track Blood On My Hands featuring Smino.

    It's like The Weeknd meets Billie Eilish with his mysterious noir aesthetic and pulsing beat, but still with a bucketload of soul. The video also features Duckwrth.

    AUGUST 08 is in with the cool crowd too - he's signed to 88 Rising, the label and collective which also includes Joji, Rich Brian and many more.

    Last year he dropped the Father EP but with the strength of Blood On My Hands, we're pretty keen to see how 2019 unfolds for this rising star.
