Australian pop is on fire at the moment, with some of the hottest pop acts coming out of Australia, producing music that’s pushing boundaries. Here are some of the stars of tomorrow that you have to be watching out for today. While international pop stars might be dominating the commercial airwaves, you can expect these musicians to make a splash in the coming months. Who knows, you might just discover your new favourite artist.

    E^ST

E^ST hails from the Central Coast, and recently signed on to the influential Fueled By Ramen. She’s someone that has unlimited potential, only just exiting her teens, and is as great on features as she is on her own songs. Her live show is killer, too, and it’s where her music really comes into her element. She's just announced a new EP Life Ain't Always Roses and dropped a new song Alien making us even more excited for new E^ST. The EP drops 26th October.

    Kota Banks

Kota Banks just dropped her debut mixtape, Prize, and it’s wall to wall bangers. Full of lyrics about love, both for others and herself, it’s one of the best releases of this year when it comes to Australian pop. The songs really shine in a live context, with a recent east coast tour receiving praise from all corners. We expect a lot more from Kota, and we can’t wait to see what she brings to the table on future releases.

    Glades

Glades have only been around for a few years now, but they’re already making a name for themselves. They’re an indie pop band with just the one EP to their name, but they’re already making waves both domestically and internationally. You can catch them at Listen Out if you’re lucky enough to be going. Don’t worry if you miss out though, we’re sure that there will be plenty of more opportunities to see them live. After all, they’re just getting started.

    Eilish Gilligan

Eilish Gilligan has been described by many as Australia’s answer to Lorde, and with good reason. Her vocals are some of the best that our country has to offer, and it’s matched by her lyrics. She’s been slowly but surely growing a loyal fanbase, and it’s only a matter of time before she properly takes off. In the meantime, get on board, and introduce your friends to their new favourite artist.

    CXLOE

CXLOE’s brand of moody, introspective pop has garnered attention nationally, and it’s hard not to see why. Quoting stars like Banks and Broods as influences, she’s been travelling between Australia and the US in order to make her music. She’s even a Kota Banks fan, so who knows, we might see them tour together soon! Until then, get familiar with her music, because this is a name that you’ll be hearing a lot more of soon.

    Hatchie

Formerly of kickass Brisbane band Go Violets, Hatchie dropped her debut EP this year, to rave reviews across the board. However, the material has been recorded for a little while, with Hatchie writing solo stuff behind the scenes while being in various bands. Debut single Try became a hit on Triple J, before she’d even played a show. We’re just grateful that her music is finally seeing the light of day, and we can’t wait to see where her music goes next.

Have we missed anyone? Who’s your favourite from the list? Let us know! We can’t wait to see where all these musicians end up, as they all have very bright futures.
