    TikTok baddies

It's been another explosive year on TikTok, where we discovered the weirdest trends, the most wholesome creators, and some absolutely blockbuster songs. So as we near the end of 2021, we decided that it was only right to celebrate the Baddies Of TikTok 2021 with a three mix by producer Adam Bozzetto and let us warn you, it is fire.

Featuring the biggest songs this year from PinkPantheress, Ashnikko, Saweetie, Bella Poarch and GAYLE, the mix was then illustrated by Perth-based graphic designer By Poppy, who uses the kitschy, magazine-influenced aesthetic of the early 2000s and Y2K fashion to create collages of today's biggest celebrities and stars.

Check out the mix and By Poppy's graphic design process below, then read on for our little chat with her on how she got started creating these nostalgic works.

When did you start illustrating/graphic designing and what made you lean into the Y2K aesthetic in your work?

I started playing around with Photoshop properly in 2019, trying to find my style and experimenting with the tools. I was naturally drawn to the Y2K aesthetic due to my love of bright colours, bold fonts & not necessarily following the design ‘rules’. I think it’s really fun to transform modern images into nostalgic art pieces!

How long does it take you to complete an average poster like on your Instagram page?

It really varies - if I have a clear vision & everything runs smoothly only an hour or so… more detailed images can take many hours!

Have any of the subjects of your work, like the Kardashian-Jenners, Olivia Rodrigo, Dua Lipa or Billie Eilish, taken notice?

Some of my faves - Bella Hadid, Hailey Bieber & Sofia Richie have noticed my work which is insane!

Y2K fashion is massively on trend now, what's been the best thing to return from the era in your opinion?

I love how Y2K fashion has returned, especially how fun & bright the pieces are - it encourages people not to take their outfits too seriously and play around with different items! My favourites are the graphic baby tees, shoulder bags & baggy jeans!

Finally, this mix features PinkPantheress, Saweetie, Ashnikko, Bella Poarch and GAYLE but who is your TikTok Baddie Of 2021?

It’s got to be Doja Cat - her music never gets old even after going viral! I also adore PinkPantheress' music & admire her rise to fame this year with a truly unique sound.
