Continuing her tradition of surprise releases, Beyoncé has dropped a new song, Black Parade, on Juneteenth, a holiday marking the official end of slavery in America.
The song talks about black history, police brutality, and the recent George Floyd protests, with lyrics like "I'm going back to the South, where my roots ain't watered down, referencing her home state of Texas.
The track dropped hours after Bey announced an initiative to support black-owned businesses.
Bey's online directory of black-owned businesses, Black Parade Route, features businesses selling things like fashion and beauty products and coffee, and everything in between.
The website says, "Being Black is your activism. Black excellence is a form of protest. Black joy is your right. The initiative is set to benefit her BeyGood's Black Business Impact Fund, which "support[s] Black-owned small businesses in need."
