It turns out there was a very good reason that Charli XCX changed all her social media to feature a hole emoji - she's just announced a new album, the follow-up to last year's Charli.
Taking to social media, she posted a video announcing that she's releasing her new album how i'm feeling now on May 15th, and it's going to be "very DIY."

In the video, Charli says, “I’m going to use this isolation time to make a brand new album from scratch. I’m only going to be able to use the tools I have at my fingertips to create all music, all artwork, all videos... everything—in that sense, it’ll be very DIY."
A couple of days ago, Twitter account @fckyeahcharli posted about the album - however, everyone assumed it was a joke. Guess we were all wrong?

Charli's been keeping herself busy during self-isolation, hosting Instagram Lives where she chats to other artists, as well as learns a heap of new skills.
She also went on Zoom to speak about the album, saying that, “It’s important to do this for me now. To make something that feels really authentic, and real, and representative of what I’m going through.”
There's set to be some more Zoom meetings as she documents every step of the album-making process, as well as asking for fan opinions on what she's working on. She'll also be opening up an email to fans so they can send her feedback on what she's been making.
Check out the announcements below - we can't wait to hear what this sounds like.
