This week we got the sad news that we'd have to wait even longer for Childish Gambino to return to Australian shores, following his foot injury last month in Texas and his consequent postponement of his Australian tour dates in November.
Now, Music Feeds reports that Gambino will still be heading to our side of the world, but only to appear at his immersive PHAROS festival in Auckland, New Zealand.
A representative said, "Donald is taking time to recover so he can perform at 100% for PHAROS."
The NZ PHAROS experience was first to get announced and follows on from its first event in Joshua Tree in 2016, which brought mega-fans an immersive experience within a dome to launch his then-new album Awaken, My Love!.
The event is set to span three days from November 23rd until 25th, in a dome with a "virtual world" projected inside the structure, a small festival village and "special guests". Ticket-holders were also asked to come dressed in their "frequency colour", whatever that means.
We're guessing Gambino's PHAROS appearance is due to be less physical and taxing on his foot than the headline shows and Spilt Milk Festival he was due to play here in Australia, but either way, we hope he's back on his feet soon to come visit us!
