daine's revealed that her highly-anticipated debut mixtape, Quantum Jumping, is just around the corner. It'll be released on March 18th, and she's released a new single, New Ground, to celebrate. New Ground is one of daine's most upbeat tracks to date, and was written alongside emo mainstay Into It. Over It.
New Ground sees daine singing about those who are trying to keep her down, and how she's rising above the negativity. She sings in the chorus, "im gonna glow up/gotta keep makin more sounds" while also taking aim at clout chasers. We'd hate to be the subjects of this song, because it's a pretty cutting takedown. It's cool though because the video features Nocturne fans from her Discord stream.
The song's production oscillates between being driven by a Midwest emo-inspired guitar riff and a pulsating drum beat, with a couple of slicing guitar solos for good measure. It's one that'll get the pit moving when daine plays it live.
Quantum Jumping is set to be an insight into daine's growth as a musician, featuring previously-released songs like Cemetery Dreams and IDC - tracks that she wrote as a teenager. She's described it as a "tombstone to her adolescence", and promises to be a special moment for fans of left-field pop, emo, and everything in between.
Each of daine's releases to date have shown her ability to blend together diverse influences from the worlds of emo, pop and more, and she's accrued fans like Charli XCX, umru and collaborator Dylan Brady of 100 gecs along the way.
