In news that’s sure to have Drake shedding a few tears, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky are now a couple. The long time friends were recently spotted taking spending time together at a club and taking a winter stroll through New York, sparking dating rumours. These were quickly confirmed by sources close to the pair who revealed the music superstars are officially dating after casually hanging out together for a few months.

Of course, Riri and Rocky aren’t the first lovebirds dabbling in the hip-hop and R&B world to hook up. There are a host of famous faces that have shacked up over the years, with some of our favourite hip-hop couples celebrated below. 

Beyonce & Jay-Z

Hands down the most powerful couple in hip-hop, Beyonce and Jay-Z have built a formidable empire over the past two decades. Not only have they collaborated on chart-topping hits Crazy In Love, Bonnie And Clyde and Drunk In Love, but the duo has also invested in a variety of business opportunities and successfully navigated 18 years of marriage without too many dramas (besides the whole Lemonade episode), with Bey even giving birth to three beautiful children over the journey. Along with dominating the music and business world, the two are both activists and heavily involved in the Black Lives Matter movement and must be applauded for using their status for the greater good. 

Cardi B & Offset

This relationship is like Love And Hip-Hop playing out in real-time. The high profile duo has had a tumultuous time together - plagued by rumours of Offset’s cheating - but after divorce looked likely, Offset managed to win Cardi’s heart back by declaring his love for the WAP superstar on social media, along with gifting her a $300K custom-made Rolls Royce SUV. At present, the two seem very much in love, with Offset recently taking to the gram to share a video of himself, Cardi and their friends celebrating Thanksgiving. Very wholesome. 

Kim Kardashian & Kanye West 

Ok, Kim Kardashian isn’t a musician but her marriage to Kanye West is one of the most talked-about relationships in the rap world. Despite coming from two very different worlds - Kim, the spoiled child of millionaires and Kanye, a middle-class kid raised by a single mother who dropped out of college to chase the dream of being a producer - the two have made it work. They’ve fostered a loving environment for their four children at their recently purchased Wyoming ranch and often praise each other in the media. Although never far from controversy, the two seem to have a solid relationship and are proof opposites attract. 

Keyshia Ka’oir & Gucci Mane

Keyshia Ka’oir is the definition of a ride or die. The self-starting beauty and wellness entrepreneur stuck by Gucci Mane when he went to prison in 2014, and upon his release two years later, helped him get on the straight and narrow before the two married in 2017. Saweetie & Quavo

Like any self-respecting rapper, Quavo got the attention of rising star Saweetie by sliding into her DMs back in 2018. Sending her a snowflake emoji (representing her song ICY GRL), she replied with the stir-fry emoji (representing Migos track Stir Fry) and a budding romance began. The two were texting and talking on the phone for many months before finally meeting. Although their first date wasn’t all plain sailing, with Quavo almost choking on crab meat and a brawl erupting at the strip club they visited, ending the night early, it all worked out in the end, with the two very much in love and still going strong. 

Alicia Keys & Swizz Beatz

These two give us the warm fuzzies. First meeting as teens, it wasn’t until they reconnected in their early 20s that the love bug struck. Making things official in 2010, a few months before the birth of their first son, Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz are couple goals. The two are open and honest with each other and never spend more than two weeks apart. As she told Jet, “Swizz and I live in each other’s shadow. So we can occupy the same space and there is nothing but equality. There’s something really powerful about that.” Amen.

Remy Ma & Papoose

These two might not be household names but they’ve shown love has no boundaries. The two married in 2008 while Remy was incarcerated before her release in 2014. They then went on to star in Love And Hip-Hop to show the world how much they love each other, with Remy appearing sporadically during later seasons. The two have collaborated on several songs and recently announced they are expecting their second child.
