Flume's just announced that his new album, Palaces, will be out on May 20th, and it's great news for electronic music fans everywhere. He's also just dropped the first taste of the album in Say Nothing, a collaboration with rising Aussie pop artist MAY-A.

Say Nothing features MAY-A's hypnotic vocals over Flume's racing, bouncy production, and it's sounding festival-ready. While Flume's 2022 teaser sounded pretty ambient and abstract, Say Nothing features some adrenaline-inducing production that'll slot seamlessly into his next live set.

Speaking about Say Nothing, Flume says, “This song is about feelings of post-relationship clarity. We wrote the song midway through 2020 while the pandemic was still pretty new. I was really excited about the initial idea but it was only once I got back to Australia in early 2021 and linked up in the studio with MAY-A that the song really came to life.”

MAY-A echoed Flume's thoughts, saying, “Working with Flume on Say Nothing has been a really incredible experience. I'm such a big fan of Harley’s so it’s unbelievable to be in a position to create music with someone I look up to and can learn so much from. His creative process is a really inspiring thing to be a part of. I’m so excited for everyone to hear the song!”

The track is the first song we've heard from Palaces, an album that takes inspiration from the natural world. During the pandemic, Flume settled in a town in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, searching for a change of scenery. Working alongside neighbour/collaborator Jonathan Zawada, the pair sampled the local wildlife, with some of those sounds set to feature on Palaces.

It's also an album that's set to feature artists from all around the world. American pop star Caroline Polachek, Australians Kučka and Emma Louise, Spanish DJ/producer Virgen Maria, French multi-hyphenate Oklou and British artist Laurel will all appear on Palaces.

Damon Albarn is also set to feature on Palaces, appearing the closing track that gives the album its name. It's a collab that was hinted at as part of Flume's 2022 teaser. We're excited to hear how Flume's worked with these artists - he's always managed to bring the best out of his collaborators.
