Like... do scientists run out of things to do, or...? We have climate change to deal with, guys. Recycling. Renewable resources. Cancer. But in Switzerland, a group of students and scientists came up with an odd experiment to try: whether cheese would taste better when exposed to different musical stimuli.

And turns out... cheese loves to listen to hip-hop.

As SwissInfo reports, eight wheels of Muttengluck Emmental cheese were subjected to different genres, including classical (Mozart), hip-hop (A Tribe Called Quest), rock (Led Zeppelin), ambient (Yello) and more for eight months.

A blind tasting after the experiment found that the wheel exposed to hip-hop "had the most unique taste profile". They found that the cheese that got to listen to A Tribe Called Quest was "remarkably fruity, both in smell and taste, and significantly different from the other samples".

"We were overwhelmed," says Professor Michael Harenberg, "At first I thought it was a typical Swiss reaction because cheese plays such a big cultural role here in Emmental. But even journalists from South Africa approached us for interviews and information."

There are even some WILD photos of the cheese - hilariously labeled with their genres - being tasted on the last day of the experiment.

I'm not sure what we can learn from this but... cheese loves to listen to hip-hop.
