Over the weekend, the hip hop and music communities at large heard the news that America's Immigrations & Customs Enforcement (ICE) department were looking to deport none other than rapper 21 Savage, who has made a name for himself as a mainstay in the Atlanta music world.

21 Savage and his mother did immigrate to the US in 2005 when he was 12, but ICE are stating that Savage has overstayed an American visa that was only valid until 2006. Savage was reportedly born in Newham, London.

It's awful timing for the 26-year-old rapper who has quickly become one of the most sought-after collaborators in the business and a force to be reckoned with, scoring two nominations at the Grammys for Record Of The Year and Rap/Sung Collaboration Of The Year (both for Rockstar), which is coming up next Monday.

His latest album, I Am > I Was, featured the likes of Post Malone, Offset, ScHoolboy Q, Childish Gambino and Travis Scott, and became a US #1 album.

A slew of hip hop heavyweights are rallying behind Savage while he's being detained by immigrations, including Vince Staples, Meek Mill, Lil Yachty and more.
