Following the explosive reaction that his last single Typical Story received, Hobo Johnson is back at it with something a little different. It's sultry, it's jazzy, it features a gorgeous female vocalist - it's his new single Uglykid featuring Elohim.
The song will live on Hobo's next album The Fall Of Hobo Johnson (following 2017's The Rise Of Hobo Johnson) which he's announced will come out September 13th. Apparently a "mix of songs and poems" he's had "floating around" in his head for a few years, the album will be 12 tracks with features like Jack Shoot, JMSEY and Elohim.
A Deep Dive Into The Chaos Of Hobo Johnson’s Frantic New Song ‘Typical Story’
But if Uglykid is anything to go by, expect the unexpected from this album. Hobo's capable of melodic emo-fused slam poetry a la Peach Scone, groovy guitar rock like Typical Story and if this song is anything to go by, jazzy slow jams too. But remember, it's always got that trademark Hobo wit - did you catch the part in this song where he goes, "listen to this fucking trumpet! holy shit!".
He's also caught in the colourful video sleeping in a wheely bin, hanging out with life-size dolls and weight-lifting with cheeseburgers - Hobo is totally self-aware and self-deprecating, two of the many things we find so refreshing about him.
You can pre-order the album now as well as buy Hobo Johnson merch ready for The Fall Of Hobo Johnson dropping this September.
Get ready, because falling into obscurity is the last thing Hobo will be doing.
