Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the single greatest compilation record EVER released by an Australian label. It’s all unreleased, incredible Australian music from exception Australian artists. If you’re thinking that this praise my be a little overblown, please consider that it’s-
a) my label
b) a compilation that I put together
c) not appropriate to argue with me in public
d) still true It’s called Imperium In Imperio
and it’s a record of new, unreleased and unheard tracks from Australian artists. The album’s title literally means ‘State Within A State’, a reference to a small group of artists who are innovating and creating against the grain, within a larger sphere. This selection of artists is connected by a fragile silk thread of electronic elements but what binds them most closely is their forward thinking and pioneering musical exploits. A whole bunch of very generous artists and managers came together to help this record come into existence so please enjoy the below cinematic jewel and bask in the glory of that artist list.
Here’s the binary kicker though- the whole record is FREE and even if you decide to pay for it I’m going to give whatever you pay to OXFAM’s Nepal relief fund so uncinch those purse strings and put down some coins if you feel it. Otherwise just have this thing gratis, no guilt, no shame, just Australian jams.
