Eminem dropped a surprise album Kamikaze on us yesterday and it's drawing an interesting response, particularly when it comes to one song Fall.
The Mike Will Made-It-produced track features the vocal work of Bon Iver's Justin Vernon and namechecks a number of rappers including Tyler The Creator and Earl Sweatshirt.
"Tyler create nothin', I see why you called yourself a f*****, bitch," he raps at one point, aiming the homophobic slur at the rapper who has been critical of Eminem's work in the past.
Vernon has since come out and said that he wasn't in the studio with Eminem when he recorded the lyrics.
"Not a fan of the message, it’s tired. Asked them to change the track, wouldn’t do it," he tweeted.
"Eminem is one of the best rappers of all time , there is no doubt. I have and will respect that," he continued.
"Tho, this is not the time to criticize Youth, it’s the time to listen. To act. It is certainly not the time for slurs. Wish they would have listened when we asked them to change it."
He further said that he's going to try and "kill" the song.
Get it in the bin.
Was not in the studio for the Eminem track... came from a session with BJ Burton and Mike Will. Not a fan of the message, it’s tired. Asked them to change the track, wouldn’t do it. Thanks for listening to BRM https://t.co/E0wmt732ty
