After what feels like an eternity, Kanye West has finally released DONDA - and it's a long one. The album comes after three listening parties in both Atlanta and Chicago where he showcased songs from the project, and in its current form, it features 26 tracks, coming in 1 hour and 48 minutes.
The album features a star-studded cast, including The Weeknd, Kid Cudi, Travis Scott, Pop Smoke and more, as well as a feature from Jay-Z, the first time the pair have worked together in a long time.
Australian producer duo FnZ have multiple production credits on the album, working on Believe What I Say, DONDA (feat. Tony Williams), Keep My Spirit Alive, Tell The Vision and Lord I Need You. The pair have worked with Kanye on multiple occasions in the past, and it's great to see some Australian representation this time around.
Baby Keem (who features on the project) also shouts out another Australian artist on the album on Praise God. He shows love to Kevin Parker (aka Tame Impala) by rapping, "Tame Imp—, Tame Impala/Tame Impala, stay outside, huh", which took us by surprise.
Kanye's also taken the time to include DaBaby and Marilyn Manson on Jail pt 2, with both currently facing severe scrutiny. DaBaby was recently removed from several festival line-ups after making wildly homophobic comments on stage, while Marilyn Manson currently faces allegations of sexual and emotional abuse from multiple women, including Phoebe Bridgers, actor Evan Rachel Woods, Wolf Alice's Ellie Rowsell and more.
If that wasn't enough, Kanye earlier stated that DONDA wasn't actually meant to have dropped, posting on Instagram that "Universal put my album out without my approval and they blocked Jail 2 from being on the album". At the time of writing, Jail pt 2 is available on all streaming services.
