Kanye West has given fans a Christmas present, releasing a five-song EP, Emmanuel, which has been inspired by "ancient and Latin music."
The EP, which was made alongside the Sunday Service Choir, is a “celebration of the miracle of the birth of Jesus Christ." Emmanuel means “God is with us” and that's what Kanye wants to remind fans of this Christmas.
2019 saw Kanye open up about his commitment to Christianity, and this EP is a continuation of that work. For Christmas 2019, he released his ninth album Jesus Is Born, and this EP proves that he's turning a Christmas release into a tradition.
It features the Christian prayer Requiem Aeternam (Eternal Rest) and features Gregorian chants, rather than the beats you're probably used to from a Kanye-produced project.
