Lil Nas X's story is one of the most compelling out of any artist in music right now, and his story has now been turned into a comic book. FAME: Lil Nas X is the latest addition to TidalWave Comics' FAME series, which was launched in 2010, and has told the stories of artists like Lady Gaga, Madonna, Beyoncé and more.
The 22-page comic was written by TidalWave publisher Darren G. Davis and illustrated by Victor Moura, with the cover by Joe Phillips. It covers key moments in Nas X's life, from his discovery of social media (which he's used to great effect over the past few years), the divorce of his parents and his high school yearbook photo.
Much like his music, the comic promises to be a little bit cheeky, while also exploring how Lil Nas X has become one of the biggest stars in music today. It's fair to say that things have come a long way for him since the viral success of Old Town Road, with his debut album, MONTERO, featuring on our Best Albums of 2021 list.
Speaking about the FAME series in a statement, Darren explains, “We’ve found a niche with our bio comics. Our success with this comic shows that there is a much wider audience for sequential storytelling than many thought.
"These readers are simply looking for something other than superheroes or horror. With our bio comics, we strive to bring these new readers evenhanded, well-researched looks at some of their favorite celebrities.”
You can check out a preview of the comic in TidalWave Comics' tweet below, with several pages from the comic featuring in an article posted by Variety here. The comic book is available to buy in print on Amazon, and digitally anywhere where you can grab eBooks!
