Disney is rebooting their animated series The Proud Family, and it's set to feature the likes of Lizzo, Normani and Lil Nas X as guest stars. The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder will premiere in 2022, and we're very, very excited.
The Proud Family focused on the adventures of teenager Penny Proud, as well as the other members of her family. Many of the original cast members will feature in the reboot, while there will be new recurring stars, including A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie.
The Disney short featurette celebrates the show's 20th anniversary, and Kyla Pratt, who played Penny Proud, spoke about her time on the show.
She reminisces, saying, “I did The Proud Family when I was 14 years old. I didn’t realize the impact that it had on me recording it, it was having that same impact on the people watching.”
Normani also commented on featuring on the show, saying that she calls her grandma Suga Mama (one of the characters from the show) "because [The Proud Family is] literally what [her] household looked like."
