It's been a huge 2019 for Lizzo, and it's just gotten even bigger. Lizzo has been named Time Magazine's 2019 Entertainer of the Year, after nearly a decade of making music. 2019 saw Lizzo turn into a bonafide superstar, and Time Magazine's recognition of this is well and truly deserved.
Time Magazine asked her about her successes this year (which include being nominated for more Grammys than any other artist) and in true Lizzo fashion, her answer was on point. “I’ve been doing positive music for a long-ass time. Then the culture changed. There were a lot of things that weren’t popular but existed, like body positivity, which at first was a form of protest for fat bodies and black women and has now become a trendy, commercialized thing. Now I’ve seen it reach the mainstream. Suddenly I’m mainstream!”
