Sydney DJ, producer and radio host Mowgli May has been busy in 2021, and she's just released a remix of Erica Banks' Toot That, giving it a future funk twist.
It's been a banner year for Erica Banks, having just performed at Rolling Loud in Miami, as well as releasing the smash hit Buss It. The track, which saw an official remix released featuring Travis Scott, spawned the infamous Buss It challenge, which took social media by storm (if you're wondering what it is, here's a video to get you up to speed.)
Her new track, Toot That, sees her using the momentum of Buss It to take her music to new heights, arriving with a remix featuring Bronx rapper DreamDoll and Houston's very own Beatking back in May.
Now, the track has received an Australian flavour to it, with Mowgli May's remix premiering on triple j’s House Party with Jade Zoe. The remix turns up the tempo to 11, and you'll want to get up and move to this one.
Speaking about the remix, Mowgli May says, "When I was off thirst trapping making my own Buss It challenge (Yea I have one! All the bad bitches do!), I never thought that making a remix for her would be in my future! I love her Southern drawl. I think she's so dope, fun and playful and I tried to keep those characteristics within this remix, even though it's so sonically different to the original.
"Coming from a DJ background, I wanted the remix to be fun and bouncy. Something you can play at both hip-hop clubs and also more open format gigs. The DreamDoll feature is fire - she killed it too. They're the next wave generation of female rappers for sure and it was so cool for this particular track with both of them on it to be my first dip of the toe in the water of production and releases!"
