If you've been on TikTok/social media recently, you might have seen the trend of sea shanties making a comeback via people duetting and adding to the previous video to the chain. The end result is a choir of voices, all singing the same sea shanty.

When Nicki Minaj's fanbase discovered this, they wanted to find a way to remix the sea shanties in a way that allowed them to pay tribute to Nicki. Name a fanbase that works harder, we'll wait.
Enter Twitter user @abaquan (@sailorsad on TikTok), spitting the intro to Super Bass over the audio from those singing the sea shanty. It's the mash-up we never knew we needed.
There's something beautiful about hearing the calm, serene singing of the sea shanty as the backdrop for @abaquan's rapping - like fire and water coming together. We've got this clip on repeat.
@abaquan tweeted the clip of her rapping, and captioned the clip, "A sea shanty for the barbz". You can never underestimate Nicki Minaj's fans' power, because they'll always find a way to come out on top.
You can check out the clip below. With sea shanties making a comeback via TikTok, is this set to be the next trend in rap/hip-hop? We're not sure, but we'd love to find out where this goes.
