With 3 BILLION streams under his belt at just 17 years old, NLE Choppa has earned his stripes as a leading voice in the future of hip hop.
His rise has been meteoric in both size and speed so if you’ve slept on Choppa up until now, we’ve got you covered. Check out our rundown on some of the best album highlights from his brand-new drop Top Shotta.
Camelot
Camelot shot NLE Choppa onto the international stage late last year after this heavy hitting rap became a viral hit. Named after Camelot Avenue in NLE Choppa’s home city of Memphis, Tennessee, the bouncy track sees NLE deliver savage bars on bars where he flexes on his haters and talks about life in the Memphis streets. The video is directed by hip-hop visual genius Cole Bennett and comically turns turf wars into a '90s sitcom.
Walk Em Down
Walk Em Down packs a whole lot of hype and sees Choppa link up with the chart-topping hip hop hero Roddy Ricch.
It takes on a more melodic spin compared to Choppa’s previous releases. With a catchy, climactic chorus and a dance that’s gone ham on TikTok, Walk Em Down is a memorable gem.
Woof woof!
Shotta Flows 3-5
Shotta Flow is really five reasons on its own. It’s a series of raps that precede the album; the first two were released last year, now Shotta Flow 3, 4 and 5 are spliced throughout Top Shotta.
The Shotta Flow raps have accumulated a whopping 1.2 billion streams on their own.
Raw and real, we’re big fans of Shotta Flow 4 which sees trap legend Chief Keef drop a verse, Shotta Flow 3 and its fizzing Blueface remix and the recently released Shotta Flow 5 which has another fire visual from Cole Bennett.
Narrow Road
Following on from DaBaby’s #1 hit Rockstar, Choppa taps the heavy-duty fast-riser to join him on the melancholic heater Narrow Road.
A story about pain and endurance, the 17-year-old bares hard truths about life in a broken home, using drugs from a young age and how his habits have impacted his mental state.
Make Em Say
Saving the “good good” for last, brand new single Make Em Say sees NLE Choppa link up with rapper Mulatto, who you might recognise as the winner of the Lifetime series The Rap Game. The wavy new anthem celebrates love and lust and flexes on social commenters.
We think we’re in love with this song.
NLE Choppa continues to take hip-hop by storm and solidify his place as the next global superstar. Wrap your ears around Shotta Flow in all its glory now.
