I don’t know why because it’s not an anniversary or anything but we’ve been banging the shit out of The Streets first two albums recently.
Like a ray of (London) sunshine, they just seem mad fresh today and we love how very not US lines like “Your crew laughs at my rhubarb and custard voices” are.
Original Pirate Material is the sound of an alternative generation raised on hip hop, but doing it their own way and as such a groundbreaking album, but good (and funny) to listen to as well.
How good was Has It Come To This?
and the brilliantly “full English” Don’t Mug Yourself.
The step right between Blur’s Parklife and Lily Allen & Jamie T & Plan B (and maybe even successful Dizzee). Proper top geezer material.
We’re still feeling the second one too .. A Grand Don’t Come For Free in particular Fit But You Know It;
Maybe a 9 and a half.
And don’t you just know it.
No need for sharkin’.
