Philadelphia R&B artist Pink Sweat$ has been on a sharp rise over the past few years but it hasn’t always been easy. Raised in a religious household, he didn’t find non-secular music until his late teens when he found a passion for Michael Jackson and Kanye West, among others. He got his start in music writing for the likes of Tierra Whack and Florida Georgia Line but decided to begin work on his own career after fighting a battle with a rare esophageal disorder called Achalasia.

Just three years after the release of his debut project Volume 1 EP, he arrived with his full-length album PINK PLANET in 2021. Making a name for himself with suave R&B ballads, he sticks true to the music that got him this far on the full-length. Now he's followed up with a new song called Nothing Feels Better, a familiar warmth emanating from the acoustic-plucked love song.

If you’re just coming to the Pink Sweat$ party now, here are the essentials.

    Honesty (2018)

Honesty is the one that kicked it all off, introducing us to his style of acoustic R&B. It’s a raw entrance to the game coming in with just an acoustic guitar and vocals, exploding into that heavenly falsetto in the chorus. Honesty blew-up and is his most-streamed song on Spotify clocking in at over 200 million streams.

    Cocaine (2018)

Taking out the title of the second most popular song off his debut EP, Cocaine is in the same line as Honesty. It’s an acoustic-led ballad that wears its heart on its sleeve. “Traded emotions in for cocaine,” he sings.

    I Know (2019)

On his second project Volume 2 EP, Pink was exploring some new lanes, leaning into a country sound on the opener I Know. It’s just a tad more sonically expansive than its predecessor as we get drums for the first time on one of his songs. An unexpected turn that set the tone for the whole EP.

    I Wanna Be Yours (2019)

Things really start to expand at this point with Pink teaming up with South Korean R&B artist Crush for one of his most beat-heavy cuts yet. The trap beat is coloured with his acoustic stylings though as the guitar sits atop the beat.

50 In Da Safe (with Wale) (2019)

The collabs started rolling in thick and fast for Pink Sweat$ in 2019. One of his biggest ones was on Wale’s 2019 record Wow, That’s Crazy. The album pulled together some of the biggest names in R&B and rap with Pink sitting alongside Megan Thee Stallion, Bryson Tiller, 6lack, Ari Lennox and more. He provides a sleek hook on the Hit-Boy-produced record.

    17 (2020)

In early 2020, Pink began laying the groundwork for his debut album. 17 was the lead-track off The Prelude and it’s a slow-moving, candlelit track that imagines growing old with a teenage love. He was set to play Coachella off the back of this but then 2020 happened.

    At My Worst (2020)

The Prelude had some of Pink Sweat$’ finest work to date and it’s all out on display on At My Worst. It’s a gentle love song with some of the best vocals of his career and it’s taken off on TikTok. Just a little while ago Kehlani jumped on the track providing the perfect duet partner for Pink.

Only A Fool (With Galantis & Ship Wrek) (2020)

If you thought Pink Sweat$ was only a ballads man then Only A Fool proves that wrong. His team-up with Swedish duo Galantis and LA duo Ship Wrek is a joyous, euphoric dance track that shimmers with a glossy chorus. It’s the outlier in his discography but it also proves his versatility if there was every question about that.

    BRB (With Mahalia) (2020)

British R&B singer Mahalia has made a name for herself with her calm, introspective tunes so it’s perhaps no surprise that this is a match made in heaven. Pink jumped on her 2020 track BRB, sliding his falsetto into the second verse. We’re gonna need some more Mahalia and Pink together because these harmonies are perfect.

    Cadillac Drive (2020)

When Issa Rae hits you up for the Insecure soundtrack you know you’re doing something right. Cadillac Drive is Pink’s contribution to the 2020 soundtrack and it’s a sizzling R&B cut that draws in a quickfire verse from rapper Price.

    Heaven (2021)

Pink’s PINK PLANET is 18 songs of pure R&B bliss but if you’re going to hit play on just one today, make it Heaven. It’s an expansive, luscious song that gives way to some elongated, sweeping vocals. It was produced by Keenan who has also worked with G Eazy, Melanie Martinez and Madison Beer.
