Hip-hop music comes faster than any other genre. It's not uncommon for a rapper to drop upwards of three projects a year and while that's great, it becomes increasingly hard to stay on top of it. 'The Rap Wrap' is our attempt to keep you in the know on the weekly. This week, we're giving you new tunes from Chance The Rapper and Lil Yachty's freestyle to Kevin Abstract's surprise drop.
Chance The Rapper & Lil Yachty - Atlanta Freestyle
Chance and Yachty have teamed up for the first time since Mixtape for a surprise freestyle. Chance is in album (or owbum, as he says) mode right now and this may have come from the sessions. Whatever it is, it's great. Yachty actually hasn't sound this focussed for a long time.
Schoolboy Q & Travis Scott - CHopstix
Schoolboy Q and Travis Scott are both on top of their game right now so it's zero surprise that their collab slaps. It's a woozy, trap cut that's worlds away from Schoolboy's last drop Numb Numb Juice.
Briggs - Life Is Incredible (Feat. Greg Holden)
Following the incredible success with A.B. Original, Briggs is back in solo mode with positive anthem Life Is Incredible. It's the most accessible thing Briggs has ever done but it should still remind everyone he's the most charismatic MC in Oz right now.
Lil Uzi Vert - That's A Rack
Uzi returned with his first official drops since last year this week and That's A Rack is our favourite. It taps into the melodic trap that he does so well, also showcasing just how good an MC he is.
Kevin Abstract - Joy Ride
Kevin Abstract dropped a new project ARIZONA Baby, unexpectedly teaming up with Jack Antonoff. Joy Ride is the highlight from the three tracks, serving Outkast-esque production with Abstract sounding re-energised and inspired.
YBN Almighty Jay - God Save Me
YBN Almighty Jay is dropping songs quicker than any of the YBN crew and they're all sounding good. The latest is God Save Me is an autobiographical, heavy cut that has Almighty Jay opening up more than ever before.
