Hip-hop music comes faster than any other genre. It's not uncommon for a rapper to drop upwards of three projects a year and while that's great, it becomes increasingly hard to stay on top of it. 'The Rap Wrap' is our attempt to keep you in the know on the weekly. This week, you're getting a long-awaited Playboi Carti return and a Kid Cudi track 8 years in the making.
DaBaby - Nasty (Feat. Megan Thee Stallion & Ashanti)
DaBaby is back with another new album Blame It On Baby and he's as reliable as ever. We already know DaBaby and Megan Thee Stallion are tried and tested collaborators but add Ashanti to the mix and it's *chef's kiss*.
Playboi Carti - @ Meh
Playboi Carti is finally back with his first solo track in two years and it's worth the wait. @ Meh is a lush cut that guides with ease. That classic Carti flow is back as he cuts into this beat with accented brilliance.
Buddy - Bad Boys (Feat. Kent Jamz)
After a few sporadic collaborations, Buddy and Kent Jamz have teamed up for a full mixtape. Janktape Vol. 1 dropped today and it features this charismatic, oddball cut Bad Boys which we've immediately gravitated to.
The Kid LAROI - Fade Away (Feat. Lil Tjay)
The Kid LAROI has teamed up with fellow teen rapper Lil Tjay for one of his most melodic, slow-moving tracks to date. LAROI is getting autobiographical on Fade Away, thinking about where he came from and how his life has changed now.
The Streets - Call My Phone Thinking I'm Doing Nothing Better (Feat. Tame Impala)
The Streets returned this week and Mike Skinner brought with him Kevin Parker a track that takes us right back to classics Streets. Parker's hook is in line with the current album The Slow Rush but it somehow perfectly melds with Skinner's bars.
Kid Cudi - Leader Of The Delinquents
The new Cudi track has been teased for almost 8 years but it's a welcome drop at this time. He returns to rapping, something he's mostly ditched for those sweet, sweet hums on recent drops, and it feels good to have him back on that vibe.
