Hip-hop music comes faster than any other genre. It's not uncommon for a rapper to drop upwards of three projects a year and while that's great, it becomes increasingly hard to stay on top of it. 'The Rap Wrap' is our attempt to keep you in the know on the weekly. This week, you're getting a new surprise Earl Sweatshirt cut and a Wiz Khalifa highlight with Megan Thee Stallion.
Earl Sweatshirt - WHOLE WORLD (Feat. Maxo)
It feels appropriate that the man who once dropped an album called I don't like shit, I don't go outside would drop a new track during isolation. This is one of Earl's cleanest productions to date with his vocals sitting right on top. He sounds present, contemplative and potent.
Wiz Khalifa - Y U Mad (Feat. Megan Thee Stallion, Ty Dolla $ign and Mustard)
Wiz Khalifa came through appropriately on 4/20 with a new project The Saga Of Wiz Khalifa. The saga begins with this slick jam featuring rapper-of-the-moment Megan Thee Stallion. With our without weed, it feels pretty damn good.
Perto - Go Away (Feat. Iann Dior)
Aussie producer Perto has enlisted Puerto Rican rapper Iann Dior for his latest cut Go Away. As the title would suggest, it's an angsty, introverted song that's as inspired by emo as it is rap.
Masego - Veg Out (Wasting Thyme)
Masego delivers this week's isolation anthem with Veg Out (Wasting Thyme). We're not sure if he's actually using his time to waste herbs or whether he's just being clever. Either way, this is a slick, relaxing listen.
Lil Jaye - Blessing
Lil Jaye is a Paris-born, Melbourne-based rapper who is bringing the suave mode of the Parisian streets to the speakers. Blessings is a hypnotic, outer-space experience. One to get lost in.
Travis Scott & Kid Cudi - The Scotts
Travis Scott has teamed up with his idol Kid Cudi for a new song The Scotts. Unsurprisingly, the pair are two peas in a pod, swapping bars over a woozy beat like it was always meant to be.
