Rico Nasty's one of the weirdest rappers on the scene and we bloody love her for it. Her music is genre-breaking, her outfits are boundary-pushing and as a personality, she comes across as a lovable and relatable misfit who you just wanna be friends with.
Now her new song Own It has dropped and we. can't. get. over. the. insane. visuals.
It's the second song from her upcoming record, Nightmare Vacation, and Own It's video is nightmare fuel indeed - in a good way, somehow. In a series of surreal and frankly otherworldly sets, Rico rocks acrylic toenails the length of her arm, a spiky Slipknot-esque gimp mask, 10 eyebrow rings/chains, a bedazzled mouth-opener, prawn head fingertips, a crown made of joints, and a necklace made of doll legs and heads. All in a day's work for Rico, no biggie.
One of the outfits was so hectic, Rico literally had to get wheelbarrowed around. Now that's commitment.
In a personal hand-written note to fans, Rico explains Own It is about focusing on "the good, the bad and the ugly" about yourself. "Zoom in on the things that make you who you are! Embrace yourself. Lift yourself up at all times." It's fantastic advice and the best part about Rico is absolutely her reluctance to do anything safe or expected.
The attention to detail in this video is wild - the longer and closer you look, the more weirdness you find. brb, we're gonna watch this 5 times.
