What is there to say about Sydney’s Ocean Alley that hasn’t been said before???

Well one thing is for certain… they’re catchy as f^*k!! I don’t know much about the band having only recently been introduced to their psychedelia, but listening to their EP In Purple on Soundcloud  I do however think that grouping the 6 piece into just two categories psych / reggae doesn’t do them justice. I’m going to have to throw soul /funk / dance and rock into the mix, in other words - a concoction of pleasing eargasms. The track Those Daze stands out for me, it’s an unexpected guitar laden jam, different to any other song on In Purple and one I find myself putting on repeat.  Then you’ve got Daydream which could fit nicely into a soundtrack of a porn film as it does a good job of setting the 'mood' if you know what I mean ;)

Final track Muddy Water is melodically reminiscent of Deep Purple with the occasional piano intertwined with the kind of lyrics that get stuck in your head in an annoyingly good way “I can’t trust myself, couple of cigarettes and plenty of regrets”. Okay maybe that line isn’t the belter example… but! I challenge you to listen to the song and see if you don’t find yourself at least humming the tune for a couple of days afterwards.

You can check out In Purple below and chuck the guys a follow here
