Aussie pop dream girl Sloan Peterson has just followed up her brilliantly quirky song Nightmare with a new cut called Moon & Back and what can we say, folks? It's another stunner.
Influenced by the vibes of 2000s Gwen Stefani, Sloan was inspired by a phrase she always says to her mum, "I love you to the moon and back." She adds, "I think the song is very self-explanatory. Could you love me to the moon and back, could be meaning how far are you willing to go for love?”
It's a seductive, late night jam only made better by its moody music video, where Sloan looks like a damn disco ball in a spectacular gold mirrored dress. The dress she's wearing, in fact, was a time-consuming recreation by Daisy Knight of the famous Paco Rabanne dress worn by '60s French pop muse Francoise Hardy back in 1967. It's totally on brand for Sloan who takes heavy inspiration from French pop and '60s mod in much of her creative output.
The video's director Alexander Smith explains, "Sloan and I have been wanting to work together for a few years, and finally the stars aligned. I wanted to create dream-like, rhythmic images that matched the sound. We’ve shared a love for sixties pop imagery and music, and I wanted to capture the spirit of that with a bit of minimalist Cosmic psychedelia thrown in.
"The dress was hand made by Daisy Knight, a painstaking re-creation of the 1967 Paco Rabanne dress worn by Francoise Hardy. At the time it was the most expensive dress ever made - created from 24k gold and diamonds. It was an incredible thing to look at, and shining a spotlight at it fired reflections off in all directions like a human disco ball.”
