Tame Impala announced just last week that they'd be releasing their fourth album, The Slow Rush, in 2020, and now there's a release date - as well as a new track.
The new track, It Might Be Time, is the first official track we've heard from the album, but Borderline, which also dropped earlier this year, will be featured on the album.
In a note on his Instagram, Kevin apologised for the delay of the album and also explained that the new song is about "your own inner paranoid thoughts telling you you’ve lost your mojo".
He wrote, "Hey everyone sorry i’ve been a bit quiet for the last 4 billion years and sorry it’s all been a bit weird this year, there are all sorts of excuses i could serve you but it basically all comes down to me hating the idea of giving you anything that isn’t the best my entire heart and soul and brain can give. But i’m so fucking relieved the day has finally come that i can give you a date, I guess you are too… And i’m so excited for touring next year and beyond with a new show and new album of songs and yes we’ll come to peru and yes we’ll come to brazil and wherever you live in the world because that’s all i want to do for the rest of my life."
As for when we'll be hearing the album? It's set to drop on Valentine's Day on February 14th - so if you're looking for a gift for your Tame Impala-loving boo, then you're in luck.
Tame Impala have also revealed that the album will consist of 12 tracks, recorded in both Los Angeles, and project leader Kevin Parker's studio in his hometown of Fremantle. Parker recorded, produced and mixed all the songs on the album.
Fingers crossed that a headline Australian tour is announced alongside the album's release soon.
