The 1975's lead singer Matty Healy is apparently working on a solo project, and the news comes straight from his mum.
Matty's mum, actress Denise Welch, spoke to OK about his plans, saying, “Matthew is working on a solo project. I’ve got two boys in the entertainment industry. It’s a nightmare but I’m very proud of them both. I’m very lucky that both my boys have got good heads on their shoulders.”
Earlier this year, Matty Healy played a solo acoustic show in Australia in support of the bushfire relief efforts. Maybe Australia is where he first got the idea for a solo album?
Matty's spoken about a solo project before, telling Zane Lowe that there's a "Matty record" in his future.
Matty said, “I think that [The 1975 is] a constantly evolving thing. I think that there’s an obvious end to an era with Music With Cars, just because like we’ve come to the end of a decade. Culture is moving.
"The 1975 has to be a slightly different thing in like, I don’t know what, like two years, you know. There’s lots of stuff that we’re gonna do.”
"One thing that I know that we’re gonna do is that I’m doing a Matty record and George is doing a George record. And we’re gonna produce each other’s records. So that’s gonna happen.”

Fingers crossed that we see this happen sooner rather than later. We don't know what this would look like, but we're excited for whatever it may be.
