I’ve been looking for any general purpose segue that would allow me to write a little comething on Cool Accidents about Game of Thrones because I need to talk about it. The series is consuming me. I mean, the books got me, but the show is so perfectly cast that I can’t help but get knee deep in every plot twist and unexpected mortality.
Today I realised however, that I’d actually missed my opportunity. I should have posted about that song that [blood]buzzband The National wrote for Game of Thrones! Track was crazy grim. For those who don’t already know, The National dropped a track titled ‘The Rains of Castamere’ at the conclusion of episode 9 of the second series of GoT. It’s a ballad from the books and it serves to remind the enemies of the Lannisters of the fate of those who would defy them.
Funnily enough this isn’t the first time The National have been comission to write a song for a media franchise. Perhaps you’ll recalled the amazing piece of artistry they recorded for Portals 2, an console game that game out in 2011. Magic.
