When Aussie music stars come together, good things happen. It's just a fact.
It's a fact that held up on Wednesday night on The Set, with Thelma Plum teaming up with Amy Shark and The Teskey Brothers to put their spin on The Zutons' Valerie, made popular by Mark Ronson and Amy Winehouse back in 2007. Ronson and Winehouse's collaboration turned the song on its head, shaping it into a ballad for the ages.
Covering it is a daunting task, but as the all-star line-up proved, it was a challenge they were up to. It incorporates a lot of the key parts of the original, while also showcasing what makes the musicians involved so damn good. Rather than trying to imitate Winehouse, they put their own stamp on the song, and created a memorable track in the process.
You can check out their cover below, but be warned, it'll get stuck in your head.
