We love a bit of reciprocity between artists.
Following Weezer's Toto hat-tip recently, first with Rosanna and then after much convincing and a fan-led campaign, a cover of Africa, Toto have said that they'll be covering Weezer's 2001 hit Hash Pipe in the coming weeks.
As NME reports, Toto singer/guitarist Steve Lukather and keyboard player Steve Porcaro shared the news with radio station KROQ, telling them they "loved the message" of Hash Pipe and wanted to give it some love.
"We wanted to do it justice. We wanted to do our thing to it, but still pay respect to it. And we added a couple of our kitschy little things to it, which I hope that they laugh [at]. We wish we could be in the room when they hear it.”
Now we wait!
UPDATE: That was quicker than we thought! Toto ripped out the cover - which was pretty faithful to the original - at a show in Vancouver this week. Check out the footage below.
