To celebrate the release of Brisbane punk champions WAAX's debut album Big Grief today, Cool Accidents sat down to chat with powerhouse lead singer Maz DeVita - and because it's 2019 and we can't tear ourselves off Instagram, we did it all via Instagram DM for our new Into My DMs series.
The album is equal parts gut-wrenching and soaring, led by the hand through Maz's captivating vocals but buoyed by the four-piece backing her with grungy riffs and barrelling drum fills. It's impossible to get past songs like single Labrador but there are plenty of other highlights across the 12-track album like No Apology and the title track.
As Maz sits down at a sushi train, we chat about wearing your heart on your sleeve, welcoming a new member into the band (and saying bye to another) and everything in between.
