Sydney-based indie rock duo PLGRMS have been kicking it for a while, finding success with songs like Fools & Their Gold, Gemini and Pieces, and today they've released a moody, epic song called Daylight.
The song has a very BIG feel with a charging beat, pulsing synths and a build that'll send shivers down your spine.
The pair say of the new song, "Daylight is a feeling, a choice to be made, a person; it's whatever you need it to be so that you can bring yourself out from the dark. Daylight speaks to us both personally – and for each of us has a distinct meaning.
"We hope that the same feelings occur to those who listen to the track; that they find their own distinct meaning/message in the music and lyrics and that they take from the song what they need or want to without us telling them what that should or shouldn’t be.”
The duo, singer-songwriter Jacob Pearson and Jonathon Bowden, have piqued the interest of heaps of tastemakers abroad like Complex, BBC6, Beats 1 and Stereogum and are originally from Australian coastal towns in the Central Coast and Sunshine Coast. "Our music has little to do with where we grew up, but definitely draws influences from our upbringing. Rather, the current track and our forthcoming material is more influenced by our own temperaments and inclinations," Jonathan explains.
Jacob and Jonathan met online, after Jonathan wrote some songs that needed a singer. He has a music degree in jazz and grew up in a household full of music and after picking up the guitar and bass, the duo ventured into the world of indie-tronica bringing to mind bands like Mansionair and alt-J.
We're expect heaps more to come from the boys, stay tuned.
