If you're a fan of Frank Ocean, then we think you'll enjoy Brisbane artist Kedus (pronounced 'ked-oos'), who's making soulful R&B that'll warm you from the inside out. He's just released his debut single, Sunset Dream, and it features Kedus' silky vocals, as well as production that elevates the song's mood.

The track will have you bouncing in your room, as well as feeling just that little bit more relaxed. To introduce you to Kedus, we've put together a primer on how he's gotten to where he is today, and what makes him stand out.

    Who is he?

Kedus is a 20-year-old R&B artist from Brisbane, and while Sunset Dream is his debut single, he's been making music for a while. He's first-generation Ethiopian, and he started recording music in his bedroom.

How did he start making music?

Kedus started making music when he was just 11, and by 15, he'd built his own home studio. He's self-engineered five mixtapes, as well as an EP, which you can find over on his Soundcloud account hereSunset Dream is proof of the years of work he's been putting into his music.

What does his music sound like?

His previous music has embraced the acoustic lo-fi sound, while always continuing to evolve. He's primarily a R&B artist, but he's definitely influenced by a range of genres, never shying away from a change to experiment.

He's been compared to artists like Frank Ocean, Gallant, 6lack, Khalid, Nonso Amadi and the legendary Tracy Chapman, proving that you can't put his sound neatly into any one genre. He incorporates elements of neo-soul, jazz, trap, hip-hop, dancehall, indie and rock, so he truly has something for everyone.

Speaking about Sunset Dream, he says, "When I was making the song all I had at first was a feeling. It was an exciting and dreamy feeling. I harnessed this mood and recorded a freestyle that ended up being the pre-chorus and from there the rest of the track was easier to create. I think that's why the song brings the same mood."
