It's been a long time coming, but today sees pop music triple threat YDE unveil her long-awaited debut EP, Send Help.
For those who recognise talent when they see it, YDE is no stranger. Born in Sydney as Breanna Yde, she moved to the states as a young child, kicking off an acting career at the age of six. In recent years, you might have seen her as Tomika on the School Of Rock series, or Gina on Netflix's Malibu Rescue.
In 2020 though, she proved that her talents weren't simply limited to the screen, with the likes of Stopped Buying Diamonds and BlindLife welcoming us to her YDE moniker and proving that there was little she couldn't do.
Now, having established herself as a powerful actor, producer, and now musician, YDE has released her long-awaited debut EP, Send Help. Serving as executive producer on the EP, YDE introduces the listener to her myriad sides as she shares a series of thrilling and ever-engaging stories.
Preceded by the likes of the slow-burning Uncomfortable recently, Send Help continues to showcase her inimitable talents, with the likes of Where's The Fun In Truth serving as a confessional cut ("I'm aware of the mistakes that I am making", she notes), and Never Too Young addressing some harsh truths about life's realities (“You’re never too young to fall in love with…all the prescription drugs we’re taking," she says).
Often confronting but always immersive, SEND HELP wraps up with the likes of How Did We Get Here (Intro) and Outro, fully welcoming the listener into her world, while also showing the depth to her musicality, complementing eclectic instrumentation with powerful, witty, and mesmeric songwriting.
While SEND HELP proves that YDE needs nothing of the sort, she's undeniably crafted a record that is destined to stand tall as a monumental musical debut. Who knows how long it takes before she shows us what else she's amazing at?
