Our friend Diplo is noted as a magpie, particularly when it comes to things from the Caribbean. That’s why we couldn’t help but laugh when he tried to call out Flo Rida for a bit of Booty Beat stealing.

Word of the week - Palance (verb) is a Trinidadian dialect term which means ‘to party and have fun’. It is closely related to the term 'lime’ but, unlike a lime which involves hanging out with friends, palancing involves having extreme fun (most typically in a party setting) and can be done on one’s own, or with friends as well.

Prince Buster - Hard Man De Dead

People like to think that the old-school reggae dudes were all peace, love and rum punch, but the reality is they were grinding just as hard as today. Prince Buster was battling with guys like Duke Reid and Leslie Kong. Nobody could kill Buster’s sound.

The bad news is the new Major Lazer album has been delayed and won’t be out this month as previously planned. Major Lazer Bummer.

The Good news is a new track has leaked and if it, like the couple of tracks before it are anything to go by (Get Free & Jah No Partial) it’ll be well worth the wait when it finally drops. Speaking of drops, hit play below and wait for a minute and ten seconds… WHOA!

Scottish quartet Django Django recently took over the 6 Mix on BBC for two hours and played a crazy eclectic mix of music including jams by Cat Stevens, The Clash, Major Lazer, Paul McCartney, Daft Punk, Nas, Grace Jones and many many more (42 to be exact)
