It’s been over 3 years since we’ve heard Santigold doing her thing (A$AP Rocky guest spot aside) but thanks to her new stomper of a single Radio fingers crossed we’ll be hearing her on high rotation again sooooon.

 

The term ‘Spirit Animal’ sure does get thrown around a lot in today’s internet age, but never before have we used the term and actually meant it more than we do now.

We don’t know what’s more exciting? The fact that Major Lazer are launching an ACTUAL cartoon series or that they’ve collaborated with Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig on a tune to be featured in the aforementioned ‘toon…

Seriously though, it dose pose the question… DOES DIPLO EVER REST?

We’re really hoping the Sweet reference is deliberate!

I must admit I’m not the biggest fan of the latest Vampire Weekend record but I was drawn to ‘Step’, musically it reminded me of something Mark Mothersbaugh would compose for a Wes Anderson film.

It was a hot summer’s day in Los Angeles when I was first introduced to the sweet sounds of Haim. A friend and I were driving down La Cienega Boulevard we had just picked up the sampler EP made of recycled paper, stamped HAIM (a stamp being the official hipster seal of approval yeah).

Nearly a decade after their genesis, Born Ruffians still sound as raw and visceral as the day they were born.

Their third LP under the Born Ruffians name, Birthmarks seems to revel in that stripped back feeling. When all the superficiality has melted away, these songs remain, crashing reminders of their roots.
