Been waiting for Ms Monae to deliver a conventional record?

This concert hall is either too big or too small. The Warfield in San Francisco holds about 2,300 people, but its cavernous stage looks like it could all but swallow Janelle Monáe. And maybe it could, if her powerhouse voice and manic energy weren’t so outsized they threaten to blow the roof off the joint.

Now in its 36^th year, Celebrate Brooklyn 2014 kicked off early June with a headline performance by the ever charismatic Janelle Monae. With several venues throughout Brooklyn including a stage under the Brooklyn Bridge, the Band Shell at Prospect Park offers Brooklynites a local alternative to the Summer Series in Central Park in Manhattan.

Well that sounds a lot saucier than it actually is…

I guess if you aren’t in the record biz you don’t get to read video treatments too much. They usually start out big and full of ideas before reality strikes and they come down to earth.

What do you get when two of the coolest people on planet earth join forces? If you’re talking about Jay-Z & Beyoncé I guess you get Blue Ivy but in the case of soul sisters Janelle Monáe & Erykah Badu you get this ridiculously good jam and jaw dropping video below. So good.
