A recent office fave is the new album from the (mildly) mysterious Rhye, an act that we’ve all been loving on since this juicy Ryan Hemsworth mix of their tune “open” popped up last year.
The first great album of 2013 seems to be here, even if it was in fact released in 2012. I guess even though it was great it required the patronage of uber-cool UK indie Domino records to lift it out of the Pitchfork clutter.
Hot Damn. How much good R&B music is doing the rounds at the moment?! Frank Ocean and Miguel were on many a taste-makers best of 2012 lists and it looks like we’re in store for more goodness this year with new records expected from old faithfuls D'Angelo (fingers crossed) and Bilal.
Over the sunniest of sunny Easter weekends I mused on the Nova/iTunes Hottest (selling) 200 of all time (Australian only version) and the Plan B single “Ill Manors” (which isn’t selling as much as it should). I had to ask whether Jesus had really come down and died in order to provide us with an extra day off to be taunted with more Chris Brown (or most of the rest of Nova’s content really).
