5 Reasons To Get Psyched For Two Door Cinema Club's Australian Tour

Irish pop-rockers Two Door Cinema Club are heading to Australia this July, and will supplement their Splendour In The Grass set with shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.

With tickets now on sale, here are just a few reasons you should be psyched about the return of TDCC to our shores.

    1. Watch Gameshow live for the first time.

Two Door Cinema Club's most recent album took the band even further away from their indie-rock roots, with Gameshow littered with pop and disco references. It'll be very interesting to see how they reconcile the increasingly wide ranging music style into a coherent set.

    2. They almost broke up since they were last here.

No band is completely the same after going on a hiatus and when Alex Trimble spoke to us last year he revealed how close the band were to completely breaking up. This will be Australia's first look at Two Door Cinema Club post-hiatus, so in some respects it will be harder to predict what will happen at these shows than any of TDCC's Aussie shows over the past 10 years.

    3. They're making up for cancelling their 2014 tour.

The boys definitely have a point to prove this time round. After pulling out of their 2014 Splendour In The Grass set and taking a hiatus this will be their triumphant return down under, and TDCC will be keen to prove they haven't lost any of the energy that makes their live show so exciting.

    4. They're older and want their music to make a social impact.

It's possible that this slew of shows around the country, as well as their Splendour set, could be the most passionate and raw sets we've seen from Two Door Cinema Club to date. Gameshow is by far their most socially-driven record, with a clear and intentional move away from purely singing the kind of love and heartbreak songs that they burst onto the scene with almost ten years ago. The issues they're signing about now are clearly very important to TDCC, so we could be about to witness some serious emotion across these gigs.

    5. Who knows when we'll see them again.

TDCC were last in Australia in 2013, and with their touring schedule massively reduced following ongoing health issues suffered by singer Alex Trimble, it could be a fair while before you get another chance to see one of the most fun and engaging rock acts going around.
