HBO's Insecure helmed by Issa Rae is brilliant for more reasons than we can count but one of the major reasons is its soundtrack which perfectly accompanies the show while also shining a light on hip-hop and RnB stars that are on the brink of being huge. The first season shined a light on newbies like Jorja Smith, GoldLink, TT The Artist, Chloe x Halle and more and the second season's soundtrack is even better so far, three episodes in. And there's a reason why it's so good. Solange is the music consultant for the show meaning that she's behind a number of the soundtrack suggestions.

Check out seven of the artists featured on season two of the show that we reckon are going to be huge.

    Rico Nasty

20 year-old rapper Rico Nasty describes her style as "sugar trap" and while she's being compared to Lil Yachty, she's in her own lane. Poppin was featured on Insecure and it feels like the song could really start popping soon. It's starting to rack up streams on Spotify and with an excellent mixtape Tales Of Tacobella also out, it feels like you're going to be hearing a lot more about her very soon, whether you want to or not.

    Cardi B

You probably already know about NYC rapper Cardi B. Her track Bodak Yellow is gaining serious momentum and could go on to be one of the biggest hip-hop tracks of the year in the US. Insecure didn't feature that track though. They went for Lick off her 2017 mixtape Gangsta Bitch Music Vol. 2. Before this year, she was ultimately known as a reality and social media star but by the end of this year, she'll be known solely as a rap star.

    THEY.

Mind Of A Genius duo THEY. released their debut album NÜ Religion: Hyena earlier this year but the hype seems to just keep building around them. Album closer U-Rite was featured on Insecure - one of their more hip-hop-leaning cuts. The album is all over the place though in a good way, traversing everything from rock 'n' roll to RnB.

    Playboi Carti

Atlanta rapper Playboi Carti is one of the most hyped rappers of 2017 off the back of his very good, self-titlted mixtape. He's collaborated with everyone from Lana Del Rey to A$AP Rocky this year but it's his own track Magnolia burning up the charts. It may not be the last one off the mixtape to do so either. dothatshit!, featured in Insecure, is another hit in the making.

    Cam & China

Cam & China are Californian twins throwing down bars so in-sync that they really could be the next great rap duo. Their self-title EP dropped last year followed that LA, YG-esque aesthetic pairing wobbly beats with hard raps. Given Insecure is set in LA, Run Up is the perfect soundtrack for the series.

    DaniLeigh

When DaniLeigh was only 18, she was asked to impersonate Prince for his Breakfast Can Wait clip so she's basically already made it but she's now making waves with her own music. Lurkin is a modern classic, about her boy caught slyly scrolling on Instagram. It's a jam that shows how tight her songwriting is becoming.

    Buddy

Buddy is a Compton rapper responsible for one of this year's best EPs Ocean & Montana. The EP was produced by Canadian vibe maker Kaytranada and together they've found the perfect balance of West Coast vibes and universal groove. A Lite grabs you in the first few seconds with its wobbling bass and sunny synths. Also, try not to smile for the entirety of the World Of wonders video.
